This Tug of War rope is great fun for the school sport days and is great to develop teamwork and collaboration. It is also a great active game to help engage the children in exercise in a fun and interactive way. This is a great game to play by experimenting with a different number of children to change the complexity and challenge of the game. You could play with larger teams, smaller teams, uneven numbers, different age groups and even one on one to test their abilities and teach them about cause and effect.
This durable rope is made from hemp and is 10 metres long and 2cm thick. It is strong enough to maintain it’s strength and shape over time allowing multiple groups of children to play and interact with the rope for years to come. The set also includes a middle line with 2x wooden stakes that firmly secure it to the ground, to ensure the centre line doesn’t blow away or move in the wind. This then creates a line that one team need to pull the other team across to win.
Ensure the children have a firm grip and don’t allow the rope to be pulled through their hands, causing rope burn. Don’t wrap the rope around the body as this can create burns and injuries. Avoid twisting or solely pulling with the arms as this may also result in strain or injury. The best technique is to spread the legs and bend at the knees. Face forward and lean back slightly while still maintaining your balance and take the strain of the rope. When the game starts, drive back with your legs and pull with your upper body making sure to active your torso. Maintain your balance and pull together as a team to pull the opposition across the line and to victory. If you lose, there’s always next game!
This rope can also be used as a line for children to stand behind, it can be used for a fun game of limbo or it can be used as a temporary fence to mark off an area. This set comes with a storage bag to easily pack the rope away at the end of play.
