New Zealand photographer Tania Niwa is a Grand Master of Photography of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography and also a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography. She is an internationally respected leader professional portrait photography. Her Māori heritage has been the source of an ongoing series of tribal images for the last two decades, and began to incorporate in the early nineties Māori carvings and symbolism based on her own tribe’s Marae within her subject’s imagery. Tania is Australia’s youngest Grand Master of Photography, and in her early career was the youngest ever to win New Zealand Professional Photographer of the Year at the age of 26 years. Her tribes are Te Atiawa and Taranaki from the west coast of the north island of New Zealand.
