Phase 2

Phase 2 of 6 in Wushka's phonics program introduces Grapheme-Phoneme Correspondences (GPCs), focussing on simple consonant sounds and short vowels. Phase 2 is typically taught in Term 1 of Foundation and covers the following sounds: Cluster 1 - s, a, t, p Cluster 2 - i, n, m, d Cluster 3 - g, o, c, k Cluster 4 - ck, e, u, r Cluster 5 - h, b, f, ff Cluster 6 - l, ll, ss In Phase 2, children are taught to blend and segment using the above GPCs and explore simple VC and CVC words.
