LEGO MINDSTORMS for Schools is a modular concept for teaching groups of children from 8 to 16+ in a classroom or after-school club environment. It is made up of core construction and add-on resource sets, a software program, and curriculum relevant activity packs.

As well as LEGO System bricks, the core sets include a programmable LEGO brick called the RCX, an infrared transmitter, light sensors, touch sensors, a lamp, motors, and wires. Additional RCX bricks, sensors, motors, wires, and brick sets can be purchased separately. |

The LEGO MINDSTORMS for Schools software, called ROBOLAB, is developed specifically for teachers or adults working with groups of children. The program is icon-based, which means that youngsters can visualize the instructions they are stringing together for their robot. It provides basic, intermediate, and advance programming techniques including data logging. |

LEGO Education offers robotics curriculum materials for teachers or after-school club staff working with groups of children. Activities range from simple to complex and are designed to take pupils through a step-by-step approach to robotics and then offer them a variety of challenges to complete.
